At the Lace Museum in Burano the exhibition “From Private to Public”

The laces of the Adele Fornoni Bisacco Palazzi Collection are exposed at the Lace Museum in Burano until April 28. The group of works constitutes one of the most important series in the Museum.
It contains 50 examples of lace showing different types of technique and decoration, recovered and conserved with skill and love during the life of the aristocratic Adele Fornoni Bisacco Palazzi, a Venetian by adoption. The precious articles make it possible to reconstruct the general outline of the history of this antique and extraordinary art and, through fine examples from every corner of Europe, to describe the various chronological developments of lace in a coherent manner.
The Lace Museum was founded in 1981 and it hosts pieces of high value. In addition it presents the processing techniques of this art, on the one hand through the dense documentation archive and on the other hand via the work of lace makers who go in its spaces every morning. If you want to avoid the crowds and the hustle and bustle of Venice for a day you should choice to visit the beautiful islands of the lagoon. Burano is famous for its embroidery, manufacture of carnival masks and colorful facades of the houses.

The exhibition is open until April 28, from 10am to 6pm (ticket office 10am-5.30pm). Closed on Mondays.
