che trasforma Venezia in un mondo magico
On May 19th Venice will host the 39th Vogalonga
Everything begun in 1974 with a race between friends on the day of St Martin. So this race sprang the idea to hold a non-competitive regatta, promoting the revival of the rowing Venetian tradition.
The Vogalonga became one of the most characteristic events of Venice, which sees thousands of boats, strictly rowing, participating in a path of about 30 km across the entire lagoon.
The starting point is in the suggestive Basin of San Marco and then outflanking the island of St. Helena and driving along the islands of Vignole, of Saint Erasmus and San Francesco del Deserto. At the midway point is reached Burano and going to the island of Mazzorbo, Madonna del Monte and San Giacomo in Paludo, the parade enters through Grand Canal of Murano. Arrive in Venice, passing through the canal of Cannaregio and reach the Grand Canal and then the arrival at Punta della Dogana in front of San Marco.
An event that commemorates the importance of living and preserve a unique city in the world.
The traditional alzaremi, the cannon shot that points out the beginning of the race, the swish of the oars and the calm water of the lagoon .... An event not to be missed.
See you there!
Starting May 19 at 9:00 am from St. Mark's Basin.
