Carnival 2013: Venetian Festival on the water

It's the watern, the element that most characterizes Venice and has featured in its secular history, that celebrate the beggining of the 2013 edition of the Carnival!

It will be a colorful show on the water "MetaMorPhosiS Aquaticae", of the French company Ilotopie to celebrate the first day of Carnival, Saturday 26th January 2013, and to open the Venice Festival on the water.

Starting from 18.00 the banks of Cannaregio will be lit up by the fantastic fireworks of these aquatic theater artists, that will parade on fantastic rowing boats.

After the performance, at about 7pm, the celebration will move toFondamenta with the overwhelming notes of Dixie Funk Parade.

And the water Venetian Festival continues Sunday, January 27:

a water parade of the Rowing Associations Coordination will depart from Punta della Dogana and sail along the Grand Canal to reach the shores of Cannaregio, populated by thousands of spectators.

Upon arrival of the procession, you can taste the delicacies of the stands: cicheti, Venetian specialties and traditional sweets Carnival, "frittelle" and "Galani".


There is a lot of fun for the kids too:

next Sunday, January 27th don't miss the Kids Day organized at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, with many games and engaging activities to introduce the kids to the world of modern and contemporary art.
The meetings take place at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni Dorsoduro, from 3pm to 4.30pm. The theme of next Saturday will be dedicated to "Chamberlain: metallic colors and thoughts ..."
